Eminent actor Prakash Raj, who won the National Award for the Best Actor for the year 2008, can show off of yet one more renowned accomplishment.  He has just won the V Shantharam Award for the Best Actor for his performance in the Tamil film 'Kanjeevaram'.  The distinction seems to have beleaguered Prakash.

The zealous actor played a Communist sympathizer as well as poor weaver whose dream is to see his descendant in a silk marriage saree on her wedding ceremony.   Mr. Raj excel in portraying the responsibility to perfection so little so the audience had tears in ears when they missing the theatre before inspection the distressing climax, somewhere he feeds his luckless daughter by means of poison as fighting fit as profits to the jail.

The silver screen has been bound for by Priyadarshan, who also win the Shantaram Award in Best Director grouping.  'Kanjeevaram' won the important Best Film award as well as Best Cinematography prize too.

It is recognized that Tamannah Bhatia won the Best Actress (South) Award for her performing arts in 'Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam'.  Her Northern complement is Rani Mukherjee who wins the award intended for her Dil Bole Hadippa act.
